Geology of the Tahoe Basin

April 25 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The TRTA’s very own Dave Schnake, Vice President of Trail Operations and Board Member extraordinaire will be the guest speaker for this event. Dave has a B.S. in Geology from TCU and an M.S. in Geochemistry from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. He was formerly a registered geologist in California, Idaho, and Arizona. Throughout his career, Dave has worked extensively in mining, mineral exploration, groundwater production and environmental remediation in both the western US and Canada.

Dave’s talk will take you around the Tahoe Rim Trail as we discover the amazing variety of geology found right here in the Tahoe Basin! You’ll gain an appreciation of the enormous geologic forces that led to the formation of Lake Tahoe in this informative, non-technical presentation of the geologic history of the Lake Tahoe Basin. We will then highlight the varying geology to be discovered as one travels around the Lake on the Tahoe Rim Trail.

Please register in advance for this event, as space is limited.
