Join us for FREE guided snowshoe treks every Saturday from January 9th through the end of March. In addition, the TRTA will be offering three Full Moon Snowshoe Treks for TRTA members only (click "Read more"for schedule). The TRTA, along with the U.S. Forest Service and Tahoe Backcountry Ski Patrol, want you to discover the great fitness and social benefits of the easy-to-learn sport of snowshoeing.
You must register in advance for all snowshoe events by calling the TRTA at 775-298-0012 or programs@tahoerimtrail.org. In addition to the schedule below, the U.S. Forest Service will also be offering free guided snowshoe treks every Saturday at Tahoe Meadows. For more information about their program, call 775-884-8103.
Please note if the weather is bad i.e. a white out, huge storm, rain or chain control on local highways, we will not have the event. It is too dangerous for people to travel as well as recreate in those conditions. A voicemail will be left on a TRTA phone indicating if the snowshoe is cancelled. Call 775 298-0231 if the weather is bad!

Directions:
Page Meadows
From North Lake Tahoe
From Hwy 28 turn left on to hwy 89 in Tahoe city
Around 2 miles from the hwy junction turn right on to Pine Ave
Then turn right on Tahoe Parks Heights, drive .07 miles to the top of a hill and 4 way intersection. Take the middle road, Big Pine, and proceed 0.25 miles to a left hand turn onto Silvertip Drive, follow till the end of the road where it dead ends to the meeting spot.
Tahoe Meadows
From North Lake Tahoe
If driving up from Lake Tahoe, park on the RIGHT side of HWY 431, just where the tree line ends at the beginning of the meadow. You will park across from the gated entrance to the road into Incline Lake. This is the south side of the highway and the west end of the meadow, in the non-motorized area.
Although you won't be able to see them under the snow, it's the same place you park to walk on the new boardwalk along the creek through the meadow during the summer. Driving distances: 7.5 miles east of Highway 28 and 17.1miles west of the Mt. Rose Highway interchange off the US395 expressway
Martis Peak
From North Lake Tahoe
If driving from Kings Beach, take HWY 267 towards Truckee. Pass the Brockway Tahoe Rim Trail trailhead, and after you reach the summit of the highway travel less than ¼ mile. The Martis Peak access road will be on the right hand side of the HWY, Forest Service Road 16N92. It is closed with a gate in the winter, with limited parking in front of the gate. Carpool if you can!
Castle Rock
From North Lake Tahoe
To the Kingsbury North trailhead: From Stateline or South Lake Tahoe, take HWY 207 and just before the summit turn Left onto Benjamin Drive (which becomes Andria Dr) and drive 2 miles to the dead end.
Space is limited; please call the TRTA office at (775) 298-0012 or email programs@tahoerimtrail.org to reserve your spot. These may not be the best snowshoe hike's for children under 10.
