North Shore:
Tahoe City north and south can be accessed by both taxi and bus. The TART with connections to Truckee, Tahoma and Incline Village has one of their main transit points in Tahoe City. It is located directly across from Save Mart Supermarket at the junction of Highways 89 and 28. Then a 10 min. walk to the west will bring you to Fairway drive to the right and thus taking you to TC north. To the left you will cross the Truckee River on a foot bridge and then head west to TC south. This is the only trailhead with direct access from the TART. Also TC north and south can be easily accessed by taxi, like most of the TRT trailheads.
Brockway Summit east and west can be accessed directly by taxi just south of the summit of Highway 267 and there is plenty of room for drop off and pick up. The closet the TART comes to this trailhead is a stop in Kings Beach in front of Safeway to the west of the Highway 28 and 267 junctions. It would be about a 3 mile hike north on 267 to the trailheads.
Mt. Rose north and Tahoe Meadows south can be easily accessed by taxi and there is no bus service to these trailheads. There is plenty of parking at both trailheads with the construction of the new Mt. Rose trailhead parking area directly on the summit of Hwy. 431. The Tahoe Meadows trailhead parking area is just to the south of the summit on the south side of Hwy. 431.
An airport shuttle is now in place for the northshore- please use the link below for information, reservations or contact information.

West Shore:
Barker Pass is accessible by taxi from Hwy 89 by heading west on Barker Pass Rd. and this turnoff is about 4.25 miles south of Tahoe City in the Blackwood Canyon area. The trailhead is 7.2 miles from Hwy. 89 and remember to note that the last 0.5 miles to the trailhead is on a graded dirt road. The TART will drop trail users off at the beginning of Barker Pass Rd. coming from Tahoe City.
East Shore:
Spooner Summit north and south are also easily accessible by taxi, with plenty of parking at both trailheads on either side of Hwy. 50. Again, there is no bus service to either trailhead. The Casino Express that runs from Reno/Tahoe International Airport to the South Lake Tahoe casino district will not stop at SS on its route to and from Lake Tahoe.
Kingsbury Grade north and south trailheads are accessible by taxi. But take note that these trailheads are not directly located off of Hwy 207 to the north and south sides. Rather, KG trailhead north is about 2 miles north of Hwy 207 on Benjamin Dr. just west of KG Summit. Both Benjamin Dr. and the KG south (Stagecoach Parking area at Heavenly Mtn. Resort) are accessible by BlueGos Casino Shuttle. The Casino Shuttle provides bus service on the hour from South Lake Tahoe Casinos to the KG Summit, operating from 9am-1am, 24/7.
SPOONER Shuttle to Tahoe Meadows - On even days, for those wanting to do a 2-3 day 23 mile hike, Spooner Lake Outdoor Company has a shuttle for Mtn Bikes riders from Spooner up to Tahoe Meadows. The shuttle does allow hikers to take advantage of this program. That way you can leave your car at Spooner and get a shuttle up to Tahoe Meadows. The cost is $17.50 and the shuttle leaves at 9:00 AM on weekdays and 9:30 AM on week-ends. Call 775-749-5349 for reservations. There will also be a fee for parking inside the State Park at Spooner.
South Shore:
Big Meadow north and south trailheads are accessible by taxi with plenty of parking on the north side of Hwy. 89. The BM south trailhead is just a short walk from the parking area at the north trailhead. BlueGO provides bus service to Myers at the southern junction of Hwy. 89 & 50. From that point the BM trailhead is 5.3 miles south. There is also the option of the All Wheel Drive Taxis with access to Armstrong Pass off of US Forest Service Rd. 051. Armstrong Pass access is located 13.7 miles south of KG south and 9.5 miles north of BM north.
Echo Lakes and Echo Summit north and south trailheads are both accessible by taxi with plenty of parking at ES and limited parking at EL because of high traffic during the summer months. ES trailhead is located on the southwest side of Hwy. 50 and EL trailhead is accessible by turning west off Hwy. 50 at Johnson Pass Rd. (1 mile west of summit) and then turning north on to Echo Lake Rd and this will take you to the EL trailhead.
