SUMMARY:Autumn Exploration Series with TINS: Changes at Page Meadows
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nJoin the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) guides and nonprofit partner Tahoe Institute for Natural Science (TINS) for a scenic October hike to Page Meadows\, one of Tahoe City’s most stunning locations to witness the magic of fall. As the seasons change\, so does the landscape and the wildlife that call it home. \nTogether\, we’ll search for signs of animals preparing for winter: caching food\, migrating south\, or bulking up for hibernation. Along the way\, we’ll be immersed in the golden glow of Quaking Aspens as their leaves turn from green to brilliant shades of orange and yellow. Keep your eyes open as we may even spot bear scratches on tree trunks or other subtle clues of wildlife activity. \nThis hike is perfect for nature lovers\, photographers\, and anyone curious about the rhythms of the natural world as it shifts into autumn. \nWhat to Expect\nFor the weather forecast in this area\, check out this link to the NOAA website. \nTRTA/TINS treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together. SUMMARY:Winter Wellness Series with Lake Tahoe Yoga: Natural Integration
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nThe Tahoe Rim Trail Association and Lake Tahoe Yoga are partnering for a Winter Wellness series that combines our iconic trail system with holistic practices to help you slow down and take in the wonder of the world around you. \nNatural Integration begins at the Lake Tahoe Yoga Studio at 9 am for an hour of all level yoga asana. Then we will transition to Van Sickle State Park for a guided walk. The goal of these activities is not to workout or to hike a ton of miles–the goal is to connect with yourself and appreciate nature. \nDepending on snow conditions\, we will either hike or snowshoe. The TRTA can provide snowshoes upon request. \nHelpful notes: \n\nParticipants are expected to provide their own transportation between Lake Tahoe Yoga studio and Van Sickle bi-state park.\nThe Van Sickle parking lot is closed for the winter season so the parking options are either free street parking along Lake Parkway Blv or paid parking at the Village Center. The group will rendezvous at the gated park entrance.\nMaterials\, including yoga mats\, will be provided.\nAll are welcome to participate in this event regardless of experience.\n\nWhat to Expect\nTRTA treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate a great deal of their time throughout the year sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. SUMMARY:Winter Wildlife Nordic Ski with TINS
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nGlide through Tahoe’s winter wonderland on skis for a winter excursion hosted by TINS and the TRTA. We will take breaks periodically to learn about Tahoe’s forest ecology and bird migration habits while identifying trees and animals that live amongst the Lodgepole Pines. \nCross country skis and experience are required–the TRTA does not provide skis and guides are not ski instructors. We will travel ~3 miles on a groomed trail by Nevada Nordic. We will go as fast as the slowest member of the group and can make adjustments along the way. Our route will not have steep hills. Sorry\, no snowshoers on this adventure\, but take a look at our Events Calendar for other opportunities. \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA/TINS treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together.
