SUMMARY:Autumn Exploration Series with TINS: Changes at Page Meadows
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nJoin the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) guides and nonprofit partner Tahoe Institute for Natural Science (TINS) for a scenic October hike to Page Meadows\, one of Tahoe City’s most stunning locations to witness the magic of fall. As the seasons change\, so does the landscape and the wildlife that call it home. \nTogether\, we’ll search for signs of animals preparing for winter: caching food\, migrating south\, or bulking up for hibernation. Along the way\, we’ll be immersed in the golden glow of Quaking Aspens as their leaves turn from green to brilliant shades of orange and yellow. Keep your eyes open as we may even spot bear scratches on tree trunks or other subtle clues of wildlife activity. \nThis hike is perfect for nature lovers\, photographers\, and anyone curious about the rhythms of the natural world as it shifts into autumn. \nWhat to Expect\nFor the weather forecast in this area\, check out this link to the NOAA website. \nTRTA/TINS treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together. All TRTA guides and TINS staff dedicate a great deal of their time throughout the year sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect the decisions made on the trail. \nIt is also critical that you sign up for a trek that is appropriate for you and your skill set. This request is for the safety of you\, the group\, and our leadership. Read the trek description carefully\, and sign up for treks that you are capable of participating in and can enjoy.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nDifficulty\nIntermediate; steady climb for first mile \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nDistance\n3 miles roundtrip \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nLocation\nWard Creek Tahoe Rim Trail Trailhead[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nTime\n9:00 AM to 12:00 PM \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css=””]What to Bring \n\nWater (~one liter per person)\nSnacks\nWindbreaker\nClosed-toed Shoes\nTrekking Poles (optional)\nLip Balm (> SPF 15+)\nSunscreen\nSunglasses\nHat\nField Guide (optional)\nBinoculars (optional)\nCamera (optional)\nPersonal Medications/Epi-Pen*\n\n*Communicate any medical issues in a private conversation with your guides at the trailhead.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css=””] \nCheck out more about our wonderful partners at:\n\nFor more information about the trek\, contact fionap@tahoerimtrail.org.\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_btn title=”Registration Information Here!” color=”primary” i_type=”material” i_icon_material=”vc-material vc-material-local_florist” css=”” add_icon=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tfaforms.com%2F5181997|target:_blank”][vc_column_text css=””]Leave No Trace \nWe practice the seven Leave No Trace (LNT) principles on each of our programs. SUMMARY:Winter Wellness Series with Lake Tahoe Yoga: Natural Integration
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nThe Tahoe Rim Trail Association and Lake Tahoe Yoga are partnering for a Winter Wellness series that combines our iconic trail system with holistic practices to help you slow down and take in the wonder of the world around you. \nNatural Integration begins at the Lake Tahoe Yoga Studio at 9 am for an hour of all level yoga asana. Then we will transition to Van Sickle State Park for a guided walk. The goal of these activities is not to workout or to hike a ton of miles–the goal is to connect with yourself and appreciate nature. \nDepending on snow conditions\, we will either hike or snowshoe. The TRTA can provide snowshoes upon request. \nHelpful notes: \n\nParticipants are expected to provide their own transportation between Lake Tahoe Yoga studio and Van Sickle bi-state park.\nThe Van Sickle parking lot is closed for the winter season so the parking options are either free street parking along Lake Parkway Blv or paid parking at the Village Center. The group will rendezvous at the gated park entrance.\nMaterials\, including yoga mats\, will be provided.\nAll are welcome to participate in this event regardless of experience.\n\nWhat to Expect\nTRTA treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate a great deal of their time throughout the year sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nGlide through Tahoe’s winter wonderland on skis for a winter excursion hosted by TINS and the TRTA. SUMMARY:Snow Camping 101
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nAre You Ready For Your Winter Adventure?\n$225- TRTA Members\, $250- TRTA Non-Members\n\nCourse Description\nJoin the Tahoe Rim Trail Association for Snow Camping 101\, where you will learn tips and tricks to enjoy a night out in the snowy backcountry. We welcome new and seasoned backcountry enthusiasts eager to add another season to their camping experiences by learning the skills to camp successfully in the snow. \nThis course includes a virtual classroom session before the weekend in-person fieldtrip. This course is designed to give students a basis for their winter adventures through classroom and field instruction. \nThe virtual classroom portion is conducted by your instructors and will provide concepts in trip planning\, winter Leave No Trace principles\, cooking in wintery conditions\, critical gear needs\, and staying warm in harsher environments. \nThe field portion of this course is not an endurance test but will consist of a short snowshoe hike into a training area where students will sleep overnight and receive hands-on instruction in making a successful camp and how to use common gear while camping and traveling in the snow. We aim for students to walk away from the course with the additional skills\, knowledge\, and confidence to enjoy a wintry backcountry adventure solo or with family and friends. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \n\nCourse Information\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_btn title=”Itinerary and Topics” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F10n_CI-VyvMjJNL9ygRH3qiYiBePlC-Xx%2Fedit%3Fusp%3Dsharing%26ouid%3D104583984495866880553%26rtpof%3Dtrue%26sd%3Dtrue|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nDaily Topics\, Schedule\, Contingency Dates \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_btn title=”Registration opens 12/3/25!” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” css=”” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Ftahoerimtrail.my.salesforce-sites.com%2F%2FCnP_PaaS_EVT__ExternalRegistrationPage%3Fevent_id%3Da24Un0000072EfZIAU|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nSecure your spot! \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_btn title=”Student Logistics” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F1VFfj1Xvy6-JhEHLgSBNg1gnZ2Q4hwei0%2Fedit%3Fusp%3Dsharing%26ouid%3D104583984495866880553%26rtpof%3Dtrue%26sd%3Dtrue|target:_blank”][vc_column_text css=””] \nCancellation Policy\, Local Weather\, Lodging Options \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text] \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_cta h2=”TRTA Membership” h4=”Click below to become a member or renew your membership today.” txt_align=”center” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Support the TRTA” btn_style=”custom” btn_custom_background=”#ff6659″ btn_custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_align=”center” css=”” btn_link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fconnect.clickandpledge.com%2Fw%2FForm%2Fec4c7ed3-2cc3-4b7d-a315-e3e3fb3b34a5|target:_blank”]The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) is a nonprofit whose mission is to maintain and enhance the Tahoe Rim Trail system\, practice and inspire stewardship\, and preserve access to the natural beauty of the Lake Tahoe region. SUMMARY:Disconnect from Tech Nordic Ski with TINS
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nDo you feel too attached to your phone? Does constant internet connection leave you exhausted? If so\, maybe it’s time to disconnect from tech and plug in to the natural world. Join TINS and the TRTA for a guided cross-country ski focused on being present in nature without the distraction of technology. TINS naturalist Sarah Hockensmith will lead you through mindfulness activities as you ski along beautiful Tahoe Meadows. Participants are encouraged to leave their phone off or on airplane mode if circumstances allow. \nCross country skis and experience are required–the TRTA does not provide skis and guides are not ski instructors. We will travel ~5 miles on a groomed trail by Nevada Nordic. We will go as fast as the slowest member of the group and can make adjustments along the way. Our route does include some climbing. Sorry\, no snowshoers on this adventure\, but take a look at our Events Calendar for other opportunities. \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA/TINS treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together.
