SUMMARY:Expedition Echo Snowshoe Trek with Sugar Pine Foundation
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nThis event is full! No worries\, we have plenty of guided adventures to choose from. Click here to go back to the rest of our guided programs.\n  \nDescription\nThe Sugar Pine Foundation (SPF) and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) have teamed up for a morning snowshoe trek to Echo Lake. This adventure will be a leisurely snowshoe from the Echo Lake Sno-Park (Johnson Pass Rd) to Lower Echo Lake (however\, it could be more challenging if snow levels are deep). Along the way\, our experts and friends at the Sugar Pine Foundation will reveal the mysterious world of trees and touch on the effects of the Caldor Fire. Our destination provides great photo opportunities of Lower Echo Lake and the surrounding mountains of glacial moraine carved out millennia ago. \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA/SPF treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate a great deal of their time throughout the year\, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect the decisions made on the trail. \nCOVID-19 Policy\nDo not attempt to join if you have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms as outlined by the Center for Disease Control within 10 days of the trek: shortness of breath or difficulty breathing\, fever\, chills\, muscle pain\, sore throat\, loss of taste\, or smell. \nCost\nYour $10 reservation fee is non-refundable. Each vehicle must arrive with a Sno-Park parking permit to park at the meeting location. SUMMARY:Winter Navigation with a Map and Compass '24
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nAre You Ready to Find Yourself in Winter?\n$75- TRTA Members\, $100- TRTA Non-Members\n\nCourse Description\nJoin the Tahoe Rim Trail Association for a day in the classroom and field to learn basic map and compass skills in the winter. This course will teach you one of the most basic and essential outdoor skills- navigation without relying on a battery. Students can expect a morning in the classroom and then hitting the outdoors for hands-on practice. Objectives include map nomenclature and meaning of contour lines\, compass basics\, and orienteering to find one’s position with field practice. \nKnowing how to use a map and compass will greatly reduce your chances of getting lost\, especially in the winter when you can’t see the trail. Maps have stood the test of time and are still pertinent today. The Babylonians created and used one of the oldest surviving maps to this day\, and the Chinese Han Dynasty used magnetic compasses as early as 206 BC. The birth of the smartphone and personal global positioning systems (GPS) have not outdated the centuries-old navigation skill by map and compass. The earth’s magnetic field will never run out of battery. \nCOVID-19 Policy\nDo not attempt to join if you have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms as outlined by the Center for Disease Control within 10 days of the course: shortness of breath or difficulty breathing\, fever\, chills\, muscle pain\, sore throat\, loss of taste\, or smell. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \n\nCourse Information\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_btn title=”Student Logistics” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F1gpaOIwyIOyQcNy6R-Sb_PuN_hT7uR85C%2Fedit%3Fusp%3Dsharing%26ouid%3D104583984495866880553%26rtpof%3Dtrue%26sd%3Dtrue|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nCancelation Policy\, Local Weather\, Lodging Options \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_btn title=”Register Today!” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Ftahoerimtrail.my.salesforce-sites.com%2FCnP_PaaS_EVT__ExternalRegistrationPage%3Fevent_id%3Da24Un0000005MmIIAU|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nSecure your spot! \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text] \n\nCourse Discount\n[/vc_column_text][vc_cta h2=”TRTA Membership” h4=”Click below to become a member or renew your membership today.” txt_align=”center” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Support the TRTA” btn_style=”custom” btn_custom_background=”#ff6659″ btn_custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_align=”center” btn_link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fconnect.clickandpledge.com%2Fw%2FForm%2Fec4c7ed3-2cc3-4b7d-a315-e3e3fb3b34a5|target:_blank”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nTechnology like a personal GPS device has probably surpassed John Muir’s wildest dreams but that doesn’t mean Muir’s method of navigation is obsolete. SUMMARY:Snow Camping 101
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nAre You Ready For Your Winter Adventure?\n$175- TRTA Members\, $225- TRTA Non-Members\n\nCourse Description\nJoin the Tahoe Rim Trail Association for Snow Camping 101\, where you will learn tips and tricks to enjoy a night out in the snowy backcountry. We welcome new and seasoned backcountry enthusiasts eager to add another season to their camping experiences by learning the skills to camp successfully in the snow. \nStudents can expect two live video sessions before a morning in the classroom then hitting the forest for an overnight experience. This course is designed to give students a basis for their winter adventures through classroom and field instruction. \nThe live video portions are conducted by your instructors and will provide concepts in trip planning\, winter Leave No Trace principles\, cooking in wintery conditions\, critical gear needs\, and staying warm in harsher environments. The field portion of this course is not an endurance test but will consist of a short snowshoe hike into a training area where students will sleep overnight and receive hands-on instruction in making a successful camp and how to use common gear while camping and traveling in the snow. We aim for students to walk away from the course with the additional skills\, knowledge\, and confidence to enjoy a wintry backcountry adventure solo or with family and friends. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text] \nMaking a kitchen\n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”9236″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_3d”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text] \nEnjoying the sunset\n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”9235″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_3d”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text] \nSetting up camp\n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”9234″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_3d”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text] \n\nCourse Information\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_btn title=”Itinerary and Topics” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F10n_CI-VyvMjJNL9ygRH3qiYiBePlC-Xx%2Fedit%3Fusp%3Dsharing%26ouid%3D104583984495866880553%26rtpof%3Dtrue%26sd%3Dtrue|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nDaily Topics\, Schedule\, Contingency Dates \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_btn title=”Join the Waitlist” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tfaforms.com%2F4715885|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nSecure your spot! \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_btn title=”Student Logistics” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F1VFfj1Xvy6-JhEHLgSBNg1gnZ2Q4hwei0%2Fedit%3Fusp%3Dsharing%26ouid%3D104583984495866880553%26rtpof%3Dtrue%26sd%3Dtrue|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nCancelation Policy\, Local Weather\, Lodging Options \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text] \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_cta h2=”TRTA Membership” h4=”Click below to become a member or renew your membership today.” txt_align=”center” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Support the TRTA” btn_style=”custom” btn_custom_background=”#ff6659″ btn_custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_align=”center” btn_link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fconnect.clickandpledge.com%2Fw%2FForm%2Fec4c7ed3-2cc3-4b7d-a315-e3e3fb3b34a5|target:_blank”][/vc_cta][vc_column_text] \nHave questions? SUMMARY:Wilderness First Aid with NOLS Wilderness Medicine- April
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nCourse Description\nThe Tahoe Rim Trail Association is hosting a two-day Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course taught by NOLS Wilderness Medicine (NOLS WM). This course provides individuals with a foundation in important first-aid concepts critical to responding effectively to emergencies in a remote backcountry environment. \nThis fast-paced\, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders\, camp staff\, outdoor enthusiasts\, and individuals working in remote locations. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. At the end of the course\, you’ll have the knowledge\, skills\, and ability to make sound decisions in emergencies. \nThis course may also be used to recertify NOLS Wilderness Medicine Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and NOLS Wilderness Medicine WEMT (wilderness portion only) certifications. \nClose physical contact is an inherent part of this course. Vaccines\, boosters\, and negative tests are not required to attend this course but all students are encouraged to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and up-to-date with any boosters they are eligible to receive. Standard PPE will continue to be used in scenarios. \nPlease see the NOLS WM COVID-19 Disclosure for more information.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \n\nCourse Information\n[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner gap=”20″][vc_column_inner el_class=”box” width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1637203024713{margin: 20px !important;padding: 20px !important;background-color: #efefef !important;border: 2px solid #dd9933 !important;}”][vc_btn title=”Course Overview” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” css_animation=”none” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F10dcdizEAlgI1xdOI6HvMlZUvAF2slZBsub08nHxWmSQ%2Fedit|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nCurriculum\, Student Agreement\, Certification\, Scholarships\, etc. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1637097974661{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #efefef !important;}”][vc_btn title=”Register Today!” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” css_animation=”none” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Ftahoerimtrail.my.salesforce-sites.com%2FCnP_PaaS_EVT__ExternalRegistrationPage%3Fevent_id%3Da244T0000003FN9QAM%26|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nLock in your spot today! \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1637097893218{background-color: #efefef !important;}”][vc_btn title=”Student Logistics” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” css_animation=”none” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F1_ZFbnmdAkWM6rN9NAv2OfKUZvKwWscjX%2Fedit|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nCancelation Policy\, Course Location\, Local Weather\, Lodging Options\, etc. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \n\nCourse Discount\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_cta h2=”TRTA Membership Discount” h4=”Active TRTA Members get 10% off!
