SUMMARY:Wilderness First Aid with NOLS Wilderness Medicine - May 2026
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nCourse Description\nThe Tahoe Rim Trail Association is hosting a two-day Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course taught by NOLS Wilderness Medicine (NOLS WMI). This course provides individuals with a foundation in important first-aid concepts critical to responding effectively to emergencies in a remote backcountry environment. \nThis fast-paced\, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders\, camp staff\, outdoor enthusiasts\, and individuals working in remote locations. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. At the end of the course\, you’ll have the knowledge\, skills\, and ability to make sound decisions in emergencies. \nThis course may also be used to recertify NOLS Wilderness Medicine Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and NOLS Wilderness Medicine WEMT (wilderness portion only) certifications. \nClose physical contact is an inherent part of this course. Vaccines\, boosters\, and negative tests are not required to attend this course but all students are encouraged to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and up-to-date with any boosters they are eligible to receive. Standard PPE will continue to be used in scenarios. \nPlease see the NOLS WM Communicable Disease Practices for more information.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \n\nCourse Information\n[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner gap=”20″][vc_column_inner el_class=”box” width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1637203024713{margin: 20px !important;padding: 20px !important;background-color: #efefef !important;border: 2px solid #dd9933 !important;}”][vc_btn title=”Course Overview” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” css_animation=”none” css=”” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F10dcdizEAlgI1xdOI6HvMlZUvAF2slZBsub08nHxWmSQ%2Fedit|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nCurriculum\, Student Agreement\, Certification\, Scholarships\, etc. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1637097974661{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #efefef !important;}”][vc_btn title=”Register here!” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” css_animation=”none” css=”” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Ftahoerimtrail.my.salesforce-sites.com%2FCnP_PaaS_EVT__ExternalRegistrationPage%3Fevent_id%3Da24Un000006h1S2IAI|target:_blank”][vc_column_text css=””][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1637097893218{background-color: #efefef !important;}”][vc_btn title=”Student Logistics” style=”custom” custom_background=”#0093d6″ custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” css_animation=”none” css=”” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F1ipmrCpxQK4U0HFf2_ALTUnr-3GGsjE3G%2Fedit%23bookmark%3Did.w6ksuuz0dvuj|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nCancelation Policy\, Course Location\, Local Weather\, Lodging Options\, etc. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \n\nCourse Discount\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_cta h2=”TRTA Membership Discount” h4=”Active TRTA Members get 10% off! SUMMARY:Backpacking 101
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \n$225 TRTA Members\, $250 TRTA Non-Members\n  \nCourse Description\nJoin the Tahoe Rim Trail Association for an informative and experiential Backpacking101 course. You will learn tips and tricks to enjoy a night out in the true Tahoe backcountry\, and practice planning all the trip logistics from choosing a destination to building a food menu. We welcome new and seasoned backcountry enthusiasts eager to upgrade their wilderness experience by learning how to backpack for the first time or adding to your existing skills. \nStudents can expect an afternoon in the classroom\, followed by a weekend overnight hike in the field for hands-on practice and to experience genuine backcountry living. There is also a virtual ‘shakedown’ meeting the weeks before hitting the trail to go over people’s gear\, discuss any questions\, and allow time for adjustments. Much of the essential backpacking gear can be provided to borrow during this event for folks that don’t have their own equipment. \nThe classroom portion will provide concepts in trip planning\, Leave No Trace principles and bear safety\, critical gear needs and how to pack\, and how to thrive in outdoor environments while mitigating risk to yourself and others. The field portion of this course is not an endurance test but will consist of a 5-mile hike into a wilderness area where students will receive hands-on instruction in making a successful camp\, water treatment\, cooking\, travel\, how to use gear\, and how to do all of this while protecting the environment. Our goal is for students to walk away from the course with new and additional skills\, knowledge\, and confidence to enjoy a backcountry adventure solo or with family and friends. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \n\nCourse Information\n\nMonday\, June 15\, 6 PM – 8 PM: Virtual Meeting\nFriday\, June 26\, 12 PM – 5 PM: Classroom at TRTA Office\nSaturday\, June 27 – Sunday\, June 28: Overnight Backpacking Trip along the TRT\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_btn title=”Register now!” style=”custom” custom_background=”#1E73BE” custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” css=”” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Ftahoerimtrail.my.salesforce-sites.com%2F%2FCnP_PaaS_EVT__ExternalRegistrationPage%3Fevent_id%3Da24Un000009AsgHIAS%26|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nSecure your spot! \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”TRTA Membership Discount” h4=”Active TRTA Members get 10% off!
