SUMMARY:Seed Collection Trek w/ the Sugar Pine Foundation
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nDetails\n \nDescription\nThe Sugar Pine Foundation (SPF) and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) are teaming up to collect native conifer seeds while hiking at Van Sickle Bi-State Park. Participants will learn the types of native conifers we encounter and how to tell if the seed is ripe. The seed will be grown into seedlings to reforest the Caldor fire scar. \nBe a part of the solution!  \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA outings are group outings\, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate much of their time throughout the year\, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect their decisions made on the trail. \nCOVID-19 Policy\nA COVID-19 screening will be conducted at the trailhead. Do not attempt to join if you have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms as outlined by the Center for Disease Control within 10 days of the trek: shortness of breath or difficulty breathing\, cough\, congestion\, fever\, chills\, muscle pain\, sore throat\, loss of taste\, or smell. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nDifficulty\nEasy \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nDistance\n2-3 miles roundtrip \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nLocation\nVan Sickle Bi-State Park Trailhead[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nTime\n10 AM to ~1:00 PM \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \n\nWhat to Bring\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text] \n\n\n\nWater (~one liter per person)\nSnacks\nWindbreaker/ warm jacket\nClosed-toed shoes\nTrekking poles (optional)\nLip Balm (≥ SPF 15+)\nSunscreen\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text] \n\n\n\nSunglasses\nHat\nField guide (optional)\nBinoculars (optional)\nCamera (optional)\nPersonal Medications/Epi-Pen*\n*Communicate any medical issues in a private conversation with your guides at the trailhead.\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \n\n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text] \nFor more information about the trek\, contact lindseys@tahoerimtrail.org .\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”55px”][vc_btn title=”Register Today!” color=”primary” size=”lg” align=”center” css_animation=”fadeIn” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Ftahoerimtrail.secure.force.com%2FCnP_PaaS_EVT__ExternalRegistrationPage%3Fevent_id%3Da244T000004jo3UQAQ|target:_blank”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text] \nCheck out more about our wonderful partners at:\n  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Trail Talk: Geologic History of the Lake Tahoe Basin
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nGeologic History of the Lake Tahoe Basin at Celebration Point\n  \nThis Trail Talk is taking place on the Tahoe Rim Trail Association’s Anniversary! We’ve decided to hold this event at Celebration Point\, a significant location on the trail for our TRT founders and a spot with amazing views of Lake Tahoe. Join us on September 22\, from 1 PM- 2:30 PM\, for a talk by Dave Schnake\, TRTA Master Trail Builder\, and retired geologist. Ever wonder how Lake Tahoe came to be? It turns out that the creation of Lake Tahoe tells the story of unimaginable global forces that took place over millions of years\, involving thousands of miles of the earth’s surface and at depths many miles beneath it. Dave will give a non-technical explanation of Tahoe’s geology with descriptions of fascinating geological features that you can look for while exploring the trail. This talk will give you a different perspective on the many eye-catching formations in the Tahoe Basin and root you in the rich geological history of the American Northwest. \nCelebration Point is on the north shore near Brockway Summit. To get to this location\, we will drive about 3-miles up a single-lane road.  \n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nDate\nThursday\, September 22 \n  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nTime\n1:00 PM to ~2:30 PM \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nLocation\nCelebration Point \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nWhat to Bring\nComfortable walking shoes \nSun protection \nWater \nCamp chair (optional) \n  \n  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \n\n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \nSpeaker\nRetired Geologist\, Dave Schnake[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”16382″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text] \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n \n \n Register Here!\n\n \n Sorry\, this form no longer accepts submissions. \n \n \n \n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
