SUMMARY:Chickadee & Ski Nordic Tour at Chickadee Ridge with TINS
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nAh\, the “Cheese-bur-ger” bird; the call of the Sierra Nevada mountains. But where have all the mountain chickadees gone? What happens to your favorite birds in the winter? Did you know some birds stay here all winter long\, while others migrate south to warmer climates?  \nGlide through Tahoe’s winter wonderland on skis at a winter excursion hosted by TINS and the TRTA. We will take breaks periodically to learn about Tahoe’s forest ecology and bird migration habits while identifying trees and animals that live amongst the Lodgepole Pines. Please bring your own cross-country skis. Depending on the group\, we will travel 3-5 miles on a groomed trail by Nevada Nordic. We will go as fast as the slowest member of the group and can make adjustments along the way. Our route will not have steep hills. This tour is not for beginners and is appropriate for ages 16 and up – please only experienced skiers\, as equipment and coaching will not be provided. Sorry\, no snowshoers on this adventure\, but take a look at our Events Calendar for other opportunities. \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA/TINS treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together. All trek leaders dedicate a great deal of their time throughout the year\, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect their decisions made on the trail. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nDifficulty\nModerate (300′ elevation gain) \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nDistance\n~3-5 miles round trip \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nLocation\nTahoe Meadows South Trailhead \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nTime\n10:00 AM to ~1:00 PM \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=””] \nWhat to Bring\n\nCross-country skis + poles\nWinter hat and gloves\nAppropriate footwear\nWater (~one liter per person)\nSnacks\nInsulating clothes – we suggest a wicking layer to go against your skin\nWarm fleece-type layer\nWindbreaker/ warm jacket\nWaterproof pants\nExtra layers\nExtra pair of dry socks\nLip Balm + Sunscreen\nSunglasses + Sun Hat\nCamera (optional)\nPersonal Medications/Epi-Pen*Communicate any medical issues in a private conversation with your guides at the trailhead.\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=””] \nCheck out more about our wonderful partners at:\n\nFor more information about this event\, contact angeliquec@tahoerimtrail.org.\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_btn title=”Join the Waitlist Here!” color=”danger” align=”center” i_icon_fontawesome=”fas fa-skiing-nordic” css=”” button_block=”true” add_icon=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tfaforms.com%2F4978171|target:_blank”][vc_column_text css=””]Leave No Trace \nWe practice the seven Leave No Trace (LNT) principles on each of our programs.
