SUMMARY:2026 National Trails Day
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nThe Tahoe Rim Trail Association\, in partnership with Keep Tahoe Blue\, American Hiking Society and Nevada State Parks\, is kicking off the trail season by spending the day caring for one of the most loved trail systems in the Tahoe Basin\, Van Sickle Bi-State Park.\nNational Trails Day is a chance to get outdoors\, connect with your community\, and give back to the places you love! This year\, you get to choose between trail work with the TRTA and a trash cleanup with Keep Tahoe Blue. \nEveryone will meet at Van Sickle Bi-State Park at 8:30 AM to share a cup of coffee and pastries with our fellow community members. After grabbing some snacks\, folks cleaning up will split off from the trail workers and both groups will get to work! At 2:00 PM we will come back together for a tailgate party to celebrate our hard work and community! \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_text_separator title=”Cleanup Information” color=”black” border_width=”3″ css=””][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1778000316254{background-color: #1E73BE !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/4″ css=”.vc_custom_1777578668407{border-color: #000000 !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1777579438847{background-color: #FFFFFF00 !important;}”] \nProject:\nCigarette butts\, plastic trash and food waste pose a serious risk to Lake Tahoe’s delicate ecology\, its natural beauty and its wildlife. SUMMARY:Types of Conifers Hike at Brockway with SPF
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nThe Sugar Pine Foundation (SPF) is a local nonprofit dedicated to restoring native pine forests in the Tahoe Region and beyond. Together\, our organizations collaborate to offer engaging educational experiences along the Tahoe Rim Trail and throughout the Basin. \nJoin us for a guided hike from Brockway Summit to Picnic Rock near Martis Peak\, where you’ll learn how to identify sugar pines\, Jeffrey pines\, and other native trees of the Tahoe area. During this hike and interactive presentation\, discover how SPF is working to create healthier forests for future generations. Learn about our ongoing efforts to restore sugar pine populations by planting seedlings grown from blister rust-resistant seed trees. \nCome explore the woods with us\, enjoy beautiful views of Lake Tahoe and deepen your understanding of forest ecology\, conservation\, and the unique beauty of Tahoe’s forests! \nWhat to Expect\nFor the weather forecast in this area\, check out this link to the NOAA website. \nTRTA/SPF treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together. SUMMARY:Backpacking 101
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \n$225 TRTA Members\, $250 TRTA Non-Members\n  \nCourse Description\nJoin the Tahoe Rim Trail Association for an informative and experiential Backpacking101 course. You will learn tips and tricks to enjoy a night out in the true Tahoe backcountry\, and practice planning all the trip logistics from choosing a destination to building a food menu. We welcome new and seasoned backcountry enthusiasts eager to upgrade their wilderness experience by learning how to backpack for the first time or adding to your existing skills. \nStudents can expect an afternoon in the classroom\, followed by a weekend overnight hike in the field for hands-on practice and to experience genuine backcountry living. There is also a virtual ‘shakedown’ meeting the weeks before hitting the trail to go over people’s gear\, discuss any questions\, and allow time for adjustments. Much of the essential backpacking gear can be provided to borrow during this event for folks that don’t have their own equipment. \nThe classroom portion will provide concepts in trip planning\, Leave No Trace principles and bear safety\, critical gear needs and how to pack\, and how to thrive in outdoor environments while mitigating risk to yourself and others. The field portion of this course is not an endurance test but will consist of a 5-mile hike into a wilderness area where students will receive hands-on instruction in making a successful camp\, water treatment\, cooking\, travel\, how to use gear\, and how to do all of this while protecting the environment. Our goal is for students to walk away from the course with new and additional skills\, knowledge\, and confidence to enjoy a backcountry adventure solo or with family and friends. \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \n\nCourse Information\n\nMonday\, June 15\, 6 PM – 8 PM: Virtual Meeting\nFriday\, June 26\, 12 PM – 5 PM: Classroom at TRTA Office\nSaturday\, June 27 – Sunday\, June 28: Overnight Backpacking Trip along the TRT\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_btn title=”Register now!” style=”custom” custom_background=”#1E73BE” custom_text=”#ffffff” size=”lg” align=”center” css=”” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Ftahoerimtrail.my.salesforce-sites.com%2F%2FCnP_PaaS_EVT__ExternalRegistrationPage%3Fevent_id%3Da24Un000009AsgHIAS%26|target:_blank”][vc_column_text] \nSecure your spot! \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”TRTA Membership Discount” h4=”Active TRTA Members get 10% off!
