This four-day backcountry trail work experience takes place in Desolation Wilderness near Lake Aloha.\nSpend your days working on the trail you love\, your evenings camping among the stunning granite landscapes of the Sierra Nevada\, all while connecting with a passionate and welcoming trail community.\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_text_separator title=”Lake Aloha Camp Info” color=”black” border_width=”2″ css=””][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nProject:\nAccess to Lake Aloha is challenging\, and this section of the Tahoe Rim Trail sees heavy use\, resulting in a cupped tread and areas of standing water. During this project\, we’ll use natural materials found near the trail to improve the trail surface\, enhance drainage\, and create a more sustainable route for hikers.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nDifficulty:\nThis stewardship camp is for experienced backpackers\, preferably those who have spent time at high elevation as Lake Aloha is at 8\,118 feet elevation. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) serves as the primary steward of the Tahoe Rim Trail System\, ensuring its protection and accessibility. Together\, our organizations collaborate to offer engaging educational experiences along the Tahoe Rim Trail and throughout the Basin. \nJoin us for a guided hike starting at Echo Lake Sno Park on Echo Summit\, where we’ll explore how the forest is recovering and adapting five years after the devastating Caldor Fire swept through the area. Discover which plants emerge after a major wildfire and learn about the fascinating processes of primary and secondary succession. A forest specialist from the Sugar Pine Foundation will be on hand to answer your questions and share his expertise. \nCome hike with us through the woods\, enjoy beautiful views of Lake Tahoe and gain a deeper understanding of forest ecology\, wildfire recovery\, and the resilience of Tahoe’s natural landscapes! \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA outings are group outings\, and we do our best to keep the group together. The TRTA is the primary steward of the Tahoe Rim Trail system\, and TINS is a valuable ecological stewardship organization and community education provider. Together\, our organizations collaborate to provide educational experiences in this Autumn Exploration Series across the Tahoe Rim Trail and throughout the Basin. \nNaturalist Sarah Hockensmith will lead the group along the trail and teach you all about local wildflowers and the animals that rely on them to survive. Bring your camera for this event and get ready to enjoy nature’s colorful show! \nThis hike climbs to over 9\,000 ft. elevation.
