Groups can choose from a variety of workdays. Dates range from June through mid-october. Click here for a list of workdays that can be found on our website this summer. Please allow plenty of lead time (preferably more than a month and up to 6 months) to ensure your favored day is available.
At the Workday: What to Bring and What to Expect
Workdays generally run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Our trained Crew Leaders will meet your group at the designated trailhead, get everyone signed in and teach your group what you need to know about trail work, including safety, tool usage, and building techniques.
All volunteers working on the trail need to be dressed properly. The TRTA requires all volunteers to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants as well as sturdy closed toed shoes (hiking or work boots work well). We recommend checking the weather before the workday and planning accordingly by packing a jacket, rain gear, etc depending on the forecast. You will also want to bring along sunglasses which will provide eye protection, sunscreen, plenty of water and lunch! The TRTA will provide helmets and gloves for all volunteers which are required during trail work.

Children are welcome to participate in Tahoe Rim Trail Association Group Workdays!
For the safety of everyone on the trail crew we do ask that the following guidelines be followed:
- Any volunteer under the age of 18 must have their legal guardian sign a Parent/Guardian Permission Form.
- Responsible volunteers age 16 years and older can participate in trail work without an adult chaperone.
- For volunteers over 12 years of age, there should be at least one adult for every 4-5 youth participants.
- For volunteers under 12 years of age, there should be one adult for every under 12 youth participant.
Younger participants must understand and abide by the safety precautions established by the TRTA which will be reviewed at the workday. Adults that bring youth participants to workdays are responsible for their supervision. Crew Leaders on site are responsible for providing instruction on building trail and will supervise the overall group safety.
Volunteering on the trail is fun and rewarding, join us today!
