SUMMARY:Member Hike (Carson Pass to Big Meadow)

If you aren’t already a member\, sign up here: https://tahoerimtrail.org/become-a-member/ \nThis is the most demanding member hike available and should not be your first hike above 7\,000’ this season! We will meet at the Big Meadow Trailhead at 8 A.M. and then shuttle to Carson Pass. From the Meiss Meadows Trailhead\, we will hike north on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) through Meiss Meadows until we reach the PCT/TRT junction.  After a ~500 ft. climb in the first 1.5 miles\, the remaining ~6.5 miles of terrain mostly meander downhill\, starting at about 8\,600 ft. and descending to 7\,200 ft. back at the Big Meadow Trailhead. Get ready for some wildflowers over this ~8-mile trek! \n  \nThis hike is currently sold out. This year’s project focuses on the new highway crossing reroute at Big Meadow Trailhead- a key improvement for a safer\, more enjoyable trail experience. \nWhy It Matters \nTrails don’t maintain themselves—it takes a community. In partnership with American Hiking Society\, we’re uniting with tens of thousands of outdoor enthusiasts\, trail groups\, public agencies\, and local businesses to maintain\, protect\, and celebrate our public lands. \nWhat to Expect \n    Morning:\n– Meet in Meyers and shuttle to the Big Meadow Trailhead\n– Morning welcome and Trailhead Debrief \nMidday:\n– Walk to the worksite and dive into trail work together.\n– No prior experience needed! \nAfternoon:\n– We’ll wrap up and shuttle back to The Divided Sky for a well-earned celebration with appetizers and drinks provided by our generous hosts. \nBe Part of the Movement \nWhether you hike\, bike\, ride\, or simply love the outdoors\, this is your chance to give back. SUMMARY:Intermediate Hike Series: Big Meadow to Dardanelles Lake
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nJoin the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) and our trained guides on our Intermediate Fall hike series! \nThe hike to Dardanelles Lake features a short\, steady climb to Big Meadow\, then a long\, gradual ascent to a ridge with beautiful views of the peaks surrounding Dardanelles Lake. After the ridge\, the trail descends through beautiful forest and crosses a couple of shallow creeks before arriving at the lovely\, granite-rimmed Dardanelles Lake. This out and back trail is considered moderately challenging and is 7.5 miles long roundtrip with 1300′ elevation gain. Bring your own lunch\, snacks\, and water and enjoy a lovely day on trail with fellow hiking enthusiasts! \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA outings are group outings\, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate much of their time throughout the year\, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced.
