SUMMARY:Expedition Echo Snowshoe Trek with Sugar Pine Foundation
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nThe Sugar Pine Foundation (SPF) and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) have teamed up for a morning snowshoe trek to Echo Lake. This adventure will be a leisurely snowshoe from the Echo Lake Sno-Park (Johnson Pass Rd) to Lower Echo Lake (however\, it could be more challenging if snow levels are deep). Along the way\, our experts and friends at the Sugar Pine Foundation will reveal the mysterious world of trees in winter and touch on the effects of the Caldor Fire. Our destination provides great photo opportunities of Lower Echo Lake and the surrounding mountains of glacial moraine carved out millennia ago. \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA/SPF treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate a great deal of their time throughout the year\, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect their decisions made on the trail. \nCost\nYour $10 reservation fee is non-refundable. Each vehicle must arrive with a Sno-Park parking permit to park at the meeting location. You can purchase a $15-day permit or $40 season permit online here or at several Sno-Park permit vendors found here.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nDifficulty\nModerate \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nDistance\n3 miles roundtrip \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nLocation\nEcho Lake Sno-Park \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nTime\n10:00 AM to ~1:00 PM \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css=””]What to Bring \n\nWater (~one liter per person)\nSnacks\nInsulating clothes – we suggest a wicking layer to go against your skin\nWarm fleece-type layer\nWindbreaker/ warm jacket\nWaterproof pants\nExtra layers\nWinter hat and gloves\nAppropriate footwear\nExtra pair of dry socks\nSnowshoes (can be borrowed from TRTA)\nTrekking poles (can be borrowed from TRTA)\nLip Balm (≥ SPF 15+)\nSunscreen\nSunglasses\nCamera (optional)\nPersonal Medications/Epi-Pen*\n\n*Be sure to communicate any medical issues in a private conversation with your guides at the trailhead.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css=””] \nCheck out more about our wonderful partners at the:\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””] \nFor more information about this event\, contact info@tahoerimtrail.org\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_btn title=”Join the Waistlist Here” color=”danger” align=”center” i_icon_fontawesome=”fas fa-snowflake” css=”” button_block=”true” add_icon=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tfaforms.com%2F4978171|target:_blank”][vc_column_text]Leave No Trace \nWe practice the seven Leave No Trace (LNT) principles on each of our programs. SUMMARY:Caldor Wildfire Forest Recovery Hike
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nThe Sugar Pine Foundation (SPF) is a local non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the natural regeneration of pines in the Tahoe Region and beyond. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) is the primary steward of the Tahoe Rim Trail System. Together\, our organizations partner to provide educational experiences across the Tahoe Rim Trail and throughout the Basin. Join us for a guided hike at Adventure Mountain on Echo Summit to see how the forest is recovering and adapting three years after the devastating Caldor wildfire swept through the area. What plants grow after a significant fire event\, and what does first and secondary succession look like? Forest specialist\, Maria Mircheva from the Sugar Pine Foundation\, is here to answer all your questions. Come hike in the woods with us and learn about forest ecology along the way! \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA outings are group outings\, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate much of their time throughout the year\, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced.
