During this camp we’ll primarily be building new tread which involves clearing brush\, digging roots\, moving dirt\, and constructing stone cribbing and retaining walls.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9548″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”10px”][vc_column_text] \nWhat to Expect\nThis is a trail crew Frontcountry Camp\, and requires camping adjacent to a Forest Service road with access to personal vehicles. Cell phone reception may be spotty or non-existent at this site. There is no access to running water but we will have water jugs. Meals will be prepared by volunteer camp chefs. This camp is rated Least Strenuous\, though the trailwork itself is still physically challenging.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \nSchedule\nThe camp will be held off of a Forest Service road near Watson Lake. Volunteers will arrive on the afternoon of Friday\, September 4th. After arriving volunteers will set up their tents or hammocks\, enjoy a dinner prepared by our fantastic volunteer camp chefs\, and receive a project orientation. For Saturday\, Sunday\, and Monday we’ll wake around 7AM for a delicious\, hot\, freshly prepared breakfast before getting our gear together to hike and/or drive a short distance to the work sites (less than 2 miles from the camp). We’ll work from 9AM to 4PM with a big break for lunch and  plenty of water breaks. A prepared snack will await us on our return to camp followed by dinner and great company. We’ll break camp on the morning of Monday\, September 7th and quit work in the afternoon so everyone can be on their way before the end of the day. \nPlease note! Our camp and work site are at high elevation\, approximately 7200 feet. If you will be traveling from low elevations or are not accustomed to strenuous activity at high elevation we recommend you arrive in the Tahoe area several days in advance to acclimate to local conditions. \nWhat to Bring\nAll volunteers are required to dress appropriately for each day of work including long sleeved shirts\, long pants\, and sturdy\, closed-toe boots. You should also bring containers for at least 3 liters of water\, sunglasses or other eye protection\, sunscreen\, any medications\, camping gear\, and other equipment to be comfortable in camp. Don’t have the all the fancy stuff? Just let us know\, we have gear to loan out. Be sure to pack creature comforts for camp\, including folding/camp chairs\, games\, and plenty of warm clothes. The TRTA provides the rest\, including cooking and kitchen gear\, volunteer camp chefs\, safety equipment such as hard hats and gloves\, tools and experienced crew leaders. \nWho to Bring\nThe whole family is welcome! Children can participate in volunteer workdays so long as they are able to understand and abide by TRTA safety protocols. Adults that bring youth participants are responsible for their supervision at all times.
