SUMMARY:Hydrology Snowshoe with TINS
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nJoin TINS naturalist Sarah Hockensmith as she leads the way in search of wildlife\, water features\, and spectacular scenery from a beachy waterfront. Sarah will discuss natural history topics related to winter ecology\, including how various animals and plants cope with the short days\, heavy snow\, and freezing temperatures associated with winter in Tahoe. \nThis two-mile\, easy\, out-and-back trek is family-friendly and appropriate for ages 8 and up. If the trails are covered in snow\, TINS or the TRTA can provide snowshoes upon request. TINS can also provide binoculars by request. Please bring some snacks\, as we will enjoy a lakeside picnic at tables near the lakeshore. \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA/TINS treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together. All trek leaders dedicate a great deal of their time throughout the year\, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect the decisions made on the trail.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text] \nDifficulty\nEasy \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nDistance\n2-3 miles round trip \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nLocation\nSugar Pine Point State Park\ntentative location \n($5 parking fee)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nTime\n10:00 am to ~1:00 PM \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=””] \nWhat to Bring\n\nWater (~one liter per person)\nSnacks\nInsulating clothes – we suggest a wicking layer to go against your skin\nWarm fleece-type layer\nWindbreaker/ warm jacket\nWaterproof pants\nExtra layers\nWinter hat and gloves\nWinter boots\nExtra pair of dry socks\nSnowshoes (can borrow from TRTA)\nTrekking poles (can borrow from TRTA)\nLip Balm (≥ SPF 15+)\nSunscreen\nSunglasses\nCamera (optional)\nPersonal Medications/Epi-Pen*\n\n*Be sure to communicate any medical issues in a private conversation with your guides at the trailhead.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=””] \nCheck out more about our wonderful partners at:\n\nFor more information about the event\, contact fionap@tahoerimtrail.org.\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_btn title=”Registration closed” color=”danger” align=”center” i_icon_fontawesome=”” css=”” button_block=”true” add_icon=”true” link=”target:_blank”][vc_column_text]Leave No Trace \nWe practice the seven Leave No Trace (LNT) principles on each of our programs.
