SUMMARY:8/24-8/27 Lake Aloha Backcountry Camp
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nJoin us for a volunteer vacation in one of the most beloved wilderness areas in the country! This four-day backcountry trail work experience takes place in Desolation Wilderness near Lake Aloha.\nSpend your days working on the trail you love\, your evenings camping among the stunning granite landscapes of the Sierra Nevada\, all while connecting with a passionate and welcoming trail community.\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_text_separator title=”Lake Aloha Camp Info” color=”black” border_width=”2″ css=””][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nProject:\nAccess to Lake Aloha is challenging\, and this section of the Tahoe Rim Trail sees heavy use\, resulting in a cupped tread and areas of standing water. During this project\, we’ll use natural materials found near the trail to improve the trail surface\, enhance drainage\, and create a more sustainable route for hikers.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nDifficulty:\nThis stewardship camp is for experienced backpackers\, preferably those who have spent time at high elevation as Lake Aloha is at 8\,118 feet elevation. Even with a boat taxi across both Echo Lakes\, the hike to base camp is ~5 miles and 1\,000ft ascent. Hiking from basecamp to the worksite will be ~3 miles roundtrip.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nYou Bring:\n\nAll camping gear (see below)\nLunches for each day\nTrail work and camp clothes\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nWe Supply:\n\nDesolation Wilderness Permit\nDehydrated breakfasts and dinners\nAll workday supplies: hard hats\, tools\, and gloves\nInstruction\, leadership\, and enthusiasm!\nShuttle from the TRTA office to trailhead and back\nA boat taxi across Echo Lakes\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_text_separator title=”What to Bring” color=”black” border_width=”2″ css=””][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=””] \nBackpacking:\n\nTent\nSleep system (sleeping bag\, pad\, and pillow)\nCamp attire (comfortable\, warm options and camp shoes)\nCamp towel\nMess kit (plate/bowl\, fork/spoon\, cup)\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=””] \nWorkday:\n\nWater bottles with 3-4L capacity\nHat\, sunglasses\, sunscreen\nDaypack\nLong sleeve shirt and pants (required for trail work)\nDurable\, close-toed shoes or boots (required for trail work)\nWork gloves and eye protection (optional)\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_text_separator title=”Schedule” color=”black” border_width=”2″ css=””][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nMonday\n\n7:00 AM shuttle from TRTA Office\n8:00 AM Hike in and establish camp + half day of work\n4:00 PM Workday Ends\nProvided: Dinner\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nTuesday:\n\n9:00 AM Workday begins\n4:00 PM Workday ends\nProvided: Breakfast and Dinner\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nWednesday:\n\n9:00 AM Workday begins\n4:00 PM Workday ends\nProvided: Breakfast and Dinner\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nThursday:\n\n9:00 AM Workday begins\n1:00 PM Workday ends and hike back to TH\n4:00 PM Arrive at TRTA office\nProvided: Breakfast\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nCome out and help maintain a beautiful trail!\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Sign me up!” color=”pink” align=”center” css=”” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tfaforms.com%2F5221643|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
