SUMMARY:2026 National Trails Day
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nThe Tahoe Rim Trail Association\, in partnership with Keep Tahoe Blue\, American Hiking Society and Nevada State Parks\, is kicking off the trail season by spending the day caring for one of the most loved trail systems in the Tahoe Basin\, Van Sickle Bi-State Park.\nNational Trails Day is a chance to get outdoors\, connect with your community\, and give back to the places you love! This year\, you get to choose between trail work with the TRTA and a trash cleanup with Keep Tahoe Blue. \nEveryone will meet at Van Sickle Bi-State Park at 8:30 AM to share a cup of coffee and pastries with our fellow community members. After grabbing some snacks\, folks cleaning up will split off from the trail workers and both groups will get to work! At 2:00 PM we will come back together for a tailgate party to celebrate our hard work and community! \n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_text_separator title=”Cleanup Information” color=”black” border_width=”3″ css=””][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1778000316254{background-color: #1E73BE !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/4″ css=”.vc_custom_1777578668407{border-color: #000000 !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1777579438847{background-color: #FFFFFF00 !important;}”] \nProject:\nCigarette butts\, plastic trash and food waste pose a serious risk to Lake Tahoe’s delicate ecology\, its natural beauty and its wildlife. In order to prevent litter and other pollutants from reaching Lake Tahoe\, this cleanup will focus on the heavily trafficked area near Heavenly Village and Stateline. \n \n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nDifficulty:\nThis cleanup will include standing or walking\, mostly on pavement\, with opportunities for rest from 9:30 – 2:00 PM. \n  \n  \n  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nYou Bring:\n\nSturdy\, close-toed shoes or boots (required for participation)\nEye protection/sunglasses\nWeather-appropriate clothing (hat\, sunscreen\, rain jacket\, etc.)\nDaypack\n2 liters/70 ounces of water\nFood (tailgate will be at 2:00 PM)\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nWe Bring:\n\nLeadership\, instruction\, and enthusiasm!\nGloves\, pickers\, and trash bags\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_text_separator title=”Trail Workday Information” color=”black” border_width=”3″ css=””][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1774980076451{background-color: #FFFFFF00 !important;}”] \nProject:\nThis workday will focus on the heavily used switchbacks on the Van Sickle Trail headed up to the waterfall. Due to the creation of social trails cutting the switchbacks\, the main trail is sliding away and in need of repair. We will be repairing tread and blocking the social trails with brush. Other trail work may include brushing/lopping\, drainage work\, and other trail maintenance.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nDifficulty:\nThe trail work site is approximately a half mile and 250 feet of ascent from the VSSP trailhead. Work includes using hand tools and moving brush and other natural materials.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nYou Bring:\n\nLong-sleeved shirt and pants (required for participation)\nSturdy\, close-toed shoes or boots (required for participation)\nEye protection/sunglasses\nWeather-appropriate clothing (hat\, sunscreen\, rain jacket\, etc.)\nDaypack\n2 liters/70 ounces of water\nFood (tailgate will be at 2:00 PM)\nWork gloves (we have some if you don’t!)\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””] \nWe Bring:\n\nLeadership\, instruction\, and enthusiasm!\nTools\nGloves\, hard hats\, and eye protection\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_btn title=”Sign me up!” color=”blue” size=”lg” align=”center” css=”” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tfaforms.com%2F5217449|target:_blank”][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_text_separator title=”Getting to Van Sickle State Park” color=”black” border_width=”3″ css=””][vc_empty_space height=”24px”][vc_column_text css=””]We strongly encourage biking\, public transit\, or carpooling. SUMMARY:Winter Wellness Series with Lake Tahoe Yoga: Sensory Immersion
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDescription\nThe Tahoe Rim Trail Association and Lake Tahoe Yoga are partnering for a Winter Wellness series that combines our iconic trail system with holistic practices to help you slow down and take in the wonder of the world around you. \nThis event starts with Sensory Immersion; an experience that develops intentional awareness of how you experience the world through your senses\, at the Lake Tahoe Yoga studio. The TRTA can provide snowshoes upon request. \nHelpful notes: \n\nParticipants are expected to provide their own transportation between Lake Tahoe Yoga studio and Van Sickle bi-state park.\nThe Van Sickle parking lot is closed for the winter season so the parking options are either free street parking along Lake Parkway Blv or paid parking at the Village Center. The group will rendezvous at the gated park entrance.\nMaterials\, including yoga mats\, will be provided.\nAll are welcome to participate in this event regardless of experience.\n\nWhat to Expect\nTRTA treks are group treks\, and we do our best to keep the group together. SUMMARY:Sugar Pine Discovery Hike w/ the Sugar Pine Foundation
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nDetails\n\nDescription\nThe Sugar Pine Foundation (SPF) is a local non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the natural regeneration of pines in the Tahoe Region and beyond. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) is the primary steward of the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) System. Together\, our organizations partner to provide educational experiences across the Tahoe Rim Trail and throughout the Basin. Join us for a guided hike at Van Sickle Bi-State Park in the heart of South Lake Tahoe to discover reforestation efforts around the Tahoe area. At this guided hike and presentation\, discover how SPF is helping to ensure healthier forests for future generations. Learn about efforts to restore sugar pine populations while exploring SPF worksites with sugar pine seedlings\, which will be used to reforest local wildfire scars. Come hike in the woods with us and learn about forest ecology along the way! \n  \nWhat to Expect\nTRTA outings are group outings\, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate much of their time throughout the year\, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced.
