Description
The Sugar Pine Foundation (SPF) and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) are teaming up for a morning of education and fun at Echo Summit. As we all know, 2021’s Caldor Fire wreaked havoc on the Tahoe Rim Trail near and on Echo Summit. After we meet up with Maria, our expert at the Sugar Pine Foundation, our group will join Master Trail Builder and TRT Segment Coordinator Don Bailey to discuss how this fire damaged the trail and the surrounding area and what he and his crew have to do to mitigate the fire damage and new hazards and repair the charred trail. Maria will also explain the effects of this fire on the area’s trees and their fate.
What to Expect
TRTA outings are group outings, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate a great deal of their time throughout the year sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect their decisions made on the trail.
