Outdoor Courses

These low cost  courses are designed to provide you the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in completing similar outdoor adventures. The two main in-field courses offered are Backpacking 101 and Snow Camping 101, with more occasional offerings of Backpacking 201 and Women’s Backpacking. These Outdoor Courses consist of a half day in-class session and then an overnight field session aimed to put your newly obtained skills to work. Snow Camping 101 courses are usually offered in the winter (late February to early March) while Backpacking 101 is usually offered early summer (late June to late July).

Medical Courses

The TRTA hosts several medical trainings from various medical organizations and professionals throughout year. These medical trainings include Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Wilderness First Aid (WFA), Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and basic First Aid (BFA). These trainings are taught by industry professionals such as NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) Wilderness Medicine and the American Heart Association. Medical courses are usually offered in the fall (November) and spring (April).
