What to Expect
This is an overnight trail work camp in the Mount Rose/Tahoe Meadows area. The trail crew will camp at the Mount Rose Campground, hosted by the TRTA, and work in and around Tahoe Meadows. We will meet at Tahoe Meadows Trailhead and carpool to Mt. Rose Campground where parking is limited.
Volunteers are invited to arrive at camp Thursday evening and start work on Friday morning. All meals will be provided by the TRTA and prepared by a camp cook. Camping gear not provided. This camp is rated moderate because all trail work and camping require using tools and getting dirty.
Schedule
Volunteers will meet at the Tahoe Meadows Trailhead on Thursday, 8/24 at 3:30 PM then carpool to the campsite. We’ll camp for three nights, spending Friday, Saturday, and half of Sunday working on the trail.
What to Bring
All volunteers must dress appropriately for each day of work, including long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. You should also bring everything you need for three days and two nights, including camping and cooking gear, warm clothes, etc. Plan to bring containers (water bottles, bladders, etc.) for at least 3 liters of water, sunglasses or other eye protection, sunscreen, medications, and other personal items you’ll need. Let us know if you need camping gear. The TRTA will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner, experienced crew leaders, tools, and required safety equipment such as hard hats and gloves.
Who to Bring
Camping experience is not required. Minors aged 16+ are welcome as long as a parent or legal guardian accompanies them. Please fill out the Parent/Guardian Permission Form.
Please email info@tahoerimtrail.org if you have any questions.
