Caldor Wildfire Forest Recovery Hike

July 18 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Cost: $10

guided hikes in Lake Tahoe with Sugar Pine Foundation

Description

The Sugar Pine Foundation (SPF) is a local non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the natural regeneration of pines in the Tahoe Region and beyond. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) is the primary steward of the Tahoe Rim Trail System. Together, our organizations partner to provide educational experiences across the Tahoe Rim Trail and throughout the Basin. Join us for a guided hike at Adventure Mountain on Echo Summit to see how the forest is recovering and adapting three years after the devastating Caldor wildfire swept through the area. What plants grow after a significant fire event, and what does first and secondary succession look like? Forest specialist, Maria Mircheva from the Sugar Pine Foundation, is here to answer all your questions. Come hike in the woods with us and learn about forest ecology along the way!

What to Expect

TRTA outings are group outings, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate much of their time throughout the year, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect their decisions made on the trail.
