National Trails Day: Big Meadow Highway Crossing

Celebrate National Trails Day – June 7th!

Join us on June 7th for National Trails Day as we come together to improve our trails! This year, we’ll be working on projects related to a highway crossing reroute at Big Meadow Trailhead. These projects will help us open the the new crossing which will offer a safer and more enjoyable trail user experience.

Trails don’t maintain themselves—it takes a community! In partnership with American Hiking Trails, we’re joining tens of thousands of hikers, bikers, paddlers, horseback riders, trail clubs, federal and local agencies, land trusts, and businesses to advocate for, maintain, and clean up public lands and trails.

Be part of the movement—lend a hand and make a difference!

Difficulty: Least strenuous. This project is suitable for a wide range of physical abilities.

What to bring:

• Long-sleeve shirt and pants (required for participation)
• Sturdy, close-toed shoes or boots
• Weather-appropriate clothing (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, rain jacket, etc.)
• A daypack (or backpacking pack if preferred)
• 3-4 liters of water
• Snacks (Lunch is provided)

Optional: Work gloves and eye protection
