What To Expect

Workdays generally run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and no experience is necessary. Our trained crew leaders will meet you and your group at the trailhead and teach you everything you need to know about safety, tools and trail maintenance and construction techniques. After hiking to the work site carrying tools and supplies you’ll work until lunch taking water and rest breaks as needed. Work varies widely depending on the project, but can include cutting back vegetation, restoring eroded trail, constructing trail features or digging trail sidehill. A few more hours of work after lunch and the crew will return to the trailhead and celebrate a job well done!

What To Bring

All volunteers will need to dress properly including long sleeved shirts, long pants, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. You should also bring at least 3 liters of water, lunch and snacks, sunglasses or other eye protection, sunscreen, and any medications or other supplies you’ll need. The TRTA provides the rest, including safety equipment such as hard hats and gloves, tools and experienced crew leaders.

Who Can Come?

The whole family is welcome! Children can participate in volunteer workdays so long as they are able to understand and abide by TRTA safety precautions. Adults that bring youth participants are responsible for their supervision at all times. In addition, please follow the guidelines below:
