Help the TRTA promote community and connection through nature.

The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) is a nonprofit with the mission to maintain and enhance the Tahoe Rim Trail system, practice and inspire stewardship, and preserve access to the natural beauty of the Lake Tahoe region. Our trail building and maintenance efforts ensure that the TRT minimizes human impacts on the awe-inspiring environment traversed over 200+ miles of trail. Outreach and education efforts, from Trailhead Ambassadors to our Youth Backcountry Camp Program, help connect more people to nature and inspire stewardship in our community and beyond.

How do my membership dollars help?

The Tahoe Rim Trail sees an estimated 700,000 annual users. By giving back as a member, you ensure that the TRTA can minimize the impact of those users and keep our community informed about everything from camping in bear country to using the bathroom in the backcountry. What’s more, your membership helps make the trail more accessible to all by advancing our efforts to tear down barriers to the outdoors. This includes sending more than 100 regional and underrepresented teens on a four-day backcountry camping trip at no cost each summer, providing translation services for our maps and trailhead kiosks, and hosting informational talks for the community about various topics. We are creating a welcoming and environmentally conscious community of outdoor enthusiasts, and we want you to be a part of our efforts.

Of course, it’s not all about us! Your TRTA membership has its perks.

Is it expensive to join?

The TRTA is grateful for your support, regardless of the dollar amount. Membership options include monthly and annual memberships. Both options include a family rate, where each member of your household has access to the TRTA membership. While we have provided a range of giving levels in the membership form on the right side of this page, you can always feel free to elect a unique rate to fit your budget or maximize your impact!

Not quite sure right now?

We understand that not everyone can give back to the TRTA financially. If a membership isn’t possible for you right now, consider getting involved as a volunteer or attending one of our events! If you want to learn more about the Tahoe Rim Trail Association to help inform your decision, reach out! We’d love to get to know you better, and you can find our Development Director’s email address below.

P.S.

Memberships of $1,000 or more may be designated for the Tahoe Rim Trail Association’s permanent endowment rather than the annual operating budget. If you would like to contribute to our endowment, please email veronicap@tahoerimtrail.org.
