Description
The Sugar Pine Foundation (SPF) and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) are teaming up for a morning of education and fun in South Lake Tahoe’s Van Sickle Bi-State Park. While snowshoeing up through the park to enjoy panoramic vistas with a brief visit to a waterfall, we’ll delve into the intriguing natural and human history of the area, discuss forest topics related to the trail we’re passing through, and see firsthand the impacts of a wildfire burn zone. If you enjoy learning and basking in the stellar views of the jewel of the Sierra, you’re in for a treat!. This three-mile, easy-moderate, out-and-back trek is appropriate for children. The $5 registration fee is non-refundable. Van Sickle park parking is closed in the winter. Parking is available a very short walk from the meeting location at the public parking garage in Heavenly Village for $3.75/hr.
What to Expect
TRTA outings are group outings, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate a great deal of their time throughout the year sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect their decisions made on the trail.
