Desolation Wilderness Trail Work Backcountry Camp – Heather Lake

July 14 @ 7:00 am - July 17 @ 4:00 pm

Volunteer Trail Work on the TRT- Backcountry Camp

Join the TRTA as we reconstruct the PCT/TRT deep in Desolation Wilderness. Our work will focus on constructing stone steps and armoring drains to combat erosion and promote a healthy watershed near Heather Lake.

What to Expect

This Trail Work Backcountry Camp near Heather Lake in Desolation Wilderness requires a 5-mile climb to the campsite while carrying all your gear, food, and camping supplies in order to work on the trail for four days. TRTA will provide bear canisters as bear-proof food storage, such as a bear keg, is required (bear hangs are not allowed). This is an authentic wilderness camp; volunteers should have some backpacking experience. Meals will be provided but prepared on personal backpacking stoves. This camp is rated Most Strenuous (but most rewarding!).
