Description
The Sugar Pine Foundation (SPF) is a local non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the natural regeneration of pines in the Tahoe Region and beyond. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) is the primary steward of the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) System. Together, our organizations partner to provide educational experiences across the Tahoe Rim Trail and throughout the Basin. Join us for a guided hike at Van Sickle Bi-State Park in the heart of South Lake Tahoe to discover reforestation efforts around the Tahoe area. At this guided hike and presentation, discover how SPF is helping to ensure healthier forests for future generations. Learn about efforts to restore sugar pine populations while exploring SPF worksites with sugar pine seedlings, which will be used to reforest local wildfire scars. Come hike in the woods with us and learn about forest ecology along the way!
What to Expect
TRTA outings are group outings, and we do our best to keep the group together. Trip leaders dedicate much of their time throughout the year, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect their decisions made on the trail.
