Join us for an adventure in the Trail Stewards Program, designed for high school-aged students from diverse cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds who are excited to learn new skills, and make a difference. This program combines education, exploration, and recreation in a supportive environment perfect for folks who think they might enjoy working or recreating outdoors.
Throughout the program, participants will:
- Gain Wilderness First Aid Certification
- Receive Leave No Trace Certification
- Learn hands-on skills in trail building and maintenance
- Explore exciting outdoor-related career fields
Beyond certifications and skills, participants will get to spend time discovering the world-class recreation system in their own backyard and forming lasting friendships all with the support of staff and volunteers focused on each participants well-being.
Youth from diverse cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to join, regardless of previous experience in the outdoors.
When:
July 28 – July 31, 2025
Monday through Thursday, 8:00am-4:00pm
What:
Learn about Leave No Trace, gain Wilderness First Aid Certification, adventure to a beautiful alpine lake, give back to your local trail system, and work alongside the TRTA on trail projects.
Where:
The TRTA office in Stateline, NV will be our home-base with day trips elsewhere in the basin.
Who:
Highschoolers who are able to carry a 25-30lb pack while hiking up and down mountainous Sierra terrain at 7,000-9,500 feet in elevation
