One of our most popular programs, our guided thru hike gives hikers the chance to complete the entire 170+ mile Tahoe Rim Trail with the support of expert guides. This year, we're offering two guided thru hikes in August, doubling the opportunity to take on this unforgettable adventure!
This summer, we are celebrating 18 years of inspiring young adventures through our Youth Backcountry Camps!
Designed for 12–17-year-olds, these camps immerse participants into the magical Tahoe backcountry--think alpine lakes, campfire stories, and backcountry cooking that create lifelong memories. Our camps go beyond wilderness skills, teaching stewardship, fostering community, and building a connection to the great outdoors!
Learn important first aid concepts to responding effectively to backcountry injuries and emergencies, and learn how to coordinate a backcountry evacuation.
Explore our Winter Wonderland in Tahoe and learn about trailhead access and trail conditions. Be prepared for your next wintry excursion!
The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is looking for an organized and passionate Guided Programs Manager to coordinate our guided hikes and backcountry courses. This role supports our incredible team of volunteer Trail Guides, manages program logistics, and helps connect people to the beauty of the Tahoe Rim Trail. If you love the outdoors and have experience in program coordination, we’d love to hear from you!
The Mission of the Tahoe Rim Trail Association is to maintain and enhance the Tahoe Rim Trail system, practice and inspire stewardship, and preserve access to the natural beauty of the Lake Tahoe region.
Whether tackling the Tahoe Rim Trail as a 165 mile thru hike or enjoying a leisurely day hike, the amazing vistas, high alpine lakes, meadows and peaks always make for a rewarding experience.
Hit the trail on a guided hike or head out on your own day hike or backpacking trip.
The Tahoe Rim Trail is an incredibly scenic and diverse mountain bike trail system. Grueling climbs, mellow non-technical trails, and hair-raising downhills can all be found on the Tahoe Rim Trail.
Before heading out, make sure to check out local regulations as some portions of the trail, such as designated wilderness areas, aren’t open to bikes.
The Tahoe Rim Trail is home to unforgettable memories for equestrians. Some segments present significant challenges so it’s highly recommended that all riders and their livestock have adequate trail experience.
