Trail-Wide and Large Area Projects
Trailhead Kiosk Redesign Project
This ongoing project seeks to redesign and replace the aging fleet of TRT kiosks around the Basin to improve wayfinding/navigation, site identification, place-making, standardization, branding, and the overall user experience of recreating on the TRT.
Trail Sign Inventory and Upgrade
Over the course of five years, this project will inventory, assess, and replace or upgrade more than 1000 signs and markers on the Tahoe Rim Trail.
Hazard Tree Inventory and Mitigation
This four-year project is inventorying, assessing, and mitigating hazards from hazard trees on the entire TRT system in the wake of the unprecedented tree mortality in the Sierra the past few years.
Highway Sign Upgrades
This ongoing project will result in improved signs at locations where the TRT crosses a highway.
Desolation Sign Post Replacement
This ongoing project will replace nearly two dozen signposts on the PCT/TRT in Desolation.
Visitor Use Monitoring Program
