The Commitment:

TRTA board members serve three-year terms. Board members are expected to prepare for and attend monthly board meetings on the third Wednesday of the month, provide their expertise to TRTA processes, participate in special events, join one of the TRTA’s leadership committees, and represent the TRTA in the community. Generally, members can expect to dedicate five to fifteen hours a month to board service. For details on the role of a TRTA board member, check out our Board Member Job Description

Qualifications:

Most importantly, board members must be passionate about the Tahoe Rim Trail and ready to dive into the TRTA’s inner workings that make the trail and our educational offerings happen. Our organization has identified key skillsets and representation we’d like to bring onto the board as we implement our strategic goals to maintain and enhance the physical trail, protect the trail experience, nurture and educate environmental stewards, and ensure long-term financial and organizational stability. These include marketing/PR, medical, legal, and financial expertise, other nonprofit leadership, local business interests, and youth development. We also seek diverse representation from our user base including equestrians, mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners, and BIPOC.
