What to Expect
This is a weekend trail work camp, we will be camping within a mile from the worksite and parking our high clearance vehicles close to where we will be camping. Additional parking exists near the paved road if folks do not wish to take their vehicle down a dirt road. Folks will show up Friday evening and start work on Saturday morning. Meals will be prepared on camp stoves and dinner and breakfast will be provided. Please bring snacks and lunch food for 2 days. This camp is rated moderate but only because all trail work and camping requires using tools and getting dirty.
Please email KristineK@tahoerimtrail.org if you have any questions.
Schedule
Participants will meet Friday, evening near Brockway Summit at the entrance of Carnelian Bay Ave . We’ll caravan to our campsite near the worksite. We’ll camp out for two nights, spending Saturday and half of Sunday building new trail.
Please note there are no facilities at the camp area so we will be digging cat holes and using Leave No Trace practices when in need of using a facility.
What to Bring
All volunteers are required to dress appropriately for each day of work including long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. You should also bring everything you will need for 3 days and 2 nights, including camping and cooking gear, warm clothes, etc. Plan to bring containers (water bottles, bladders, etc.) for at least 3 liters of water, sunglasses or other eye protection, sunscreen, any medications, and other personal items you’ll need. Don’t have all the fancy stuff? Just let us know, we have the gear to loan out. The TRTA will provide breakfast and dinner, experienced crew leaders, tools, and required safety equipment such as hard hats and gloves.
Who to Bring
Camping gear and this camp does not require previouscamping experience. This is an appropriate opportunity for people looking to spend their first night in a tent. Minors age 16+ are welcome so long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. In such a case, please fill out the Parent/Guardian Permission Form.
Come out and help build some great trail!
