Nordic in Nature with TINS

January 23 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Description

Fly through a winter wonderland on skis at a snowy excursion hosted by TINS and the TRTA. Spend the morning on cross-country skis gliding through forests around Spooner Lake on Tahoe’s East Shore. We will take breaks periodically to learn about forest ecology while talking about the plants and animals that make up Tahoe’s wintery ecosystem. Please bring your own cross-country skis. Depending on the group, we will travel 3-5 miles. We will go as fast as the slowest member of the group and can make adjustments along the way. Our route will not have steep hills. This tour is not for beginners and is appropriate for ages 16 and up. Park entrance to Spooner Lake & Backcountry is $10 per NV vehicle, $15 per non-NV vehicle.

What to Expect

TRTA/TINS treks are group treks, and we do our best to keep the group together. All trek leaders dedicate a great deal of their time throughout the year, sharing their passion for the outdoors. They are well-trained and experienced. Please respect the decisions made on the trail.

COVID-19 Policy

Do not attempt to join if you have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms as outlined by the Center for Disease Control within ten days of the trek: shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, cough, congestion, muscle pain, sore throat, loss of taste, or smell.
