In partnership with the Humbold-Toiyabe National Forest, the TRTA is planning to increase accessibility to the Tahoe Meadows Interpretive Loop. The trail is accessed via Tahoe Meadows Trailhead which includes a parking lot and ADA-compliant restrooms. Currently, the trail contains multiple bridges for crossing streams, a recommended one-way directional flow, and accessibility signage that details the typical grade, slope, and path surface.
The proposed activity includes improvements to the existing trail that include hardening the trail’s existing natural surface and recontouring the grades to better suit wheelchairs, widening the trail to allow people with mobility difficulties to pass one another, replacing bridges and boardwalks, improving any steps or rock encroachments to widen and ease movement, and adding areas for rest and enjoyment, and enhancing scenic views for all users.
